Natsumé / "Hanaikada" makié matcha box
Natsumé / "Hanaikada" makié matcha box
"Natsumé" matcha box in lacquered wood with a cherry blossom motif on a raft going down the river in makié and mother-of-pearl, made by Isaï Saijo (1937-), master lacquerer in Osaka. The "Hanaikada" (Flower Raft) pattern presents the beautiful landscape of flowers floating on the river but also reminds us of the Buddhist view of impermanence, according to which all things that exist are constantly changing.
