Kyo-yaki square matcha bowl with a pattern of autumn red maple leaves made by the Rokubei kiln in Kyoto.
The Rokubei kiln was inaugurated by Kiyomizu Rokubei I in the late Edo period (1771) in Gojozaka, Kyoto. For more than 230 years since then, the Rokubei kiln has been known as the mainstay of Kyo-yaki pottery, with each generation of the kiln master leveraging his special qualities in keeping with family tradition.
